FROM FIGHT PROMOTION LEGEND FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP (WWW.LEGENDFC.COM):
Born and raised in West Auckland, New Zealand light heavyweight Brandon Ropati is of both Samoan and Chinese heritage. He was an avid watcher of martial arts movies from a young age, but it wasn’t until he began watching MMA on TV that he decided that he wanted to be a participant instead of a spectator. He began with wrestling but discovered his true passion in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Steve Oliver. After winning medals in Abu Dhabi and at the American Nationals in 2010, Ropati took his first amateur MMA fight that year, and turned pro shortly afterward. 2011 saw him cement himself as one of the top light heavyweight fighters in New Zealand, and with his passion for new challenges, Ropati is now looking for international competition to establish himself as one of the best fighters in his weight class in the entire region.
